Rokoan Origami is unique in that a single sheet of Yuzen origami paper is used to create the many small cranes in each design. Throughout the folding process, each crane remains connected to one another by the head, tail and/or wings.
Jyunko has developed her own unique designs based on the Rokoan style, and now offers her artwork at several local galleries and at various art shows throughout California. Many of her creations are inspired by the natural elements found in Asian gardens such as the cherry blossom, chrysanthemum and the maple. Motifs are incorporated based on the Japanese family mon (family crest) which stands for honor and represents the history of the Japanese family. Residing in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra’s, she has expanded the medium and subject in her paintings to represent the rock formations, blooming dogwoods, local lakes and lush greenery.
The symbol of the crane has great meaning for the Japanese and has become globally renown. The crane, a majestic, strong and graceful creature holds great importance as it symbolizes honor and loyalty.
